Osaka said the tournament's strict white dress code led her to the kimono as the silhouette that best honors her Japanese heritage, citing Lucy Liu's Kill Bill character as an unexpected inspiration. It's the latest in her run of striking walk-on looks this season, following Robert Wun and Kevin Germanier designs. She backed up the fashion moment with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Elsa Jacquemot.
